Founding Architect, Sovereign AI Infrastructure

Location: Palo Alto · Type: Full-time, founding team

Overview

Lore is building distributed, secure micro-data centers across the United States to create intelligent redundancy for America’s critical infrastructure and sovereign AI workloads. We’re hiring a Founding Architect to define the end-to-end technical architecture for this national network.

This role sets the blueprint for the entire platform: compute, storage, networking, attestation, failover strategy, and the control plane that ties it all together. It requires a systems thinker who can bridge physical infrastructure and cloud-scale distributed systems.

Responsibilities

Core architecture

  • Design the architecture for Lore’s sovereign compute network across multiple 1–3 MW regional sites.
  • Define storage, network topology, failover patterns, and high-availability guarantees across regions.
  • Produce repeatable reference architectures for micro-data-center deployment.

Control plane / Lore OS

  • Architect Lore’s control plane for workload orchestration, policy enforcement, telemetry, power integration, and lifecycle management.
  • Establish standards for secure multi-tenant isolation and government-grade compliance.

Security & attestation

  • Build the trust framework for the entire system, including hardware identity, secure boot chains, and continuous attestation.

Collaboration & leadership

  • Work directly with the CEO and founding team on technical direction and roadmap.
  • Interface with external partners in utilities, power, construction, and national security.
  • Shape the early engineering team and evaluate key technology vendors.

Ideal background

  • Deep experience designing distributed systems, HPC, or hyperscale infrastructure.
  • Strong familiarity with Kubernetes, Weka/Lustre, Slurm, Ray, or similar systems.
  • Experience with hardware security (TPMs, secure boot, trusted enclaves).
  • Experience architecting multi-site high-availability systems.
  • Prior startup or founding engineer experience is a plus.

This is a founding role with meaningful equity and substantial influence over Lore’s direction.

Location: Palo Alto, with travel to regional sites · Type: Full-time

Overview

Lore is deploying secure 1–3 MW micro-data centers across the United States. We’re hiring a Regional Site Manager based in Palo Alto to oversee up to five facilities in Northern California and nearby regions.

This role blends operations, physical security, vendor management, and technical oversight for mission-critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Operations & uptime

  • Oversee daily operations for multiple Lore micro-data centers in the region.
  • Conduct routine inspections, manage preventive maintenance, and ensure strict compliance with uptime requirements.
  • Monitor power, cooling, physical security, and network health.

Security & compliance

  • Enforce physical-security protocols suitable for sovereign AI workloads.
  • Coordinate with local and federal authorities as required.
  • Ensure adherence to NIST/FedRAMP-aligned policies (training provided).

Vendor & partner coordination

  • Manage electricians, HVAC contractors, fiber providers, utilities, and building operators.
  • Oversee retrofit or construction work during new site deployments.
  • Ensure contractors meet deadlines and SLAs.

Incident response

  • Handle incidents across hardware, network, and facility systems.
  • Execute regional failover plans in coordination with Lore’s engineering and control-plane teams.

Deployment & expansion

  • Support commissioning of new micro-data centers.
  • Manage equipment installation, validation, and acceptance testing.

Ideal background

  • Experience managing data centers, telecom sites, HPC facilities, or other mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and networking systems.
  • Comfortable running multiple facilities with limited supervision.
  • Experience in DoD, critical infrastructure, hyperscaler operations, or telco is a plus.
  • Ability to coordinate across utilities and regulatory bodies.
